Our money is a reflection of our values. This is my biggest takeaway from the excellent conversation I bring you this week on the Docs2Dads podcast
- Financial wellness is one of the biggest challenges for dads.
- Money problems are one of the most frequently cited reasons for divorce.
- Children can grow up with an unhealthy relationship with money whether they grow up with too much or not enough.
But if we keep in mind that every behavior we take with our money should reflect our values, this makes conversations with our wives easier, and it provides context for how we talk to our kids about money – whether we are spending, saving, giving, or investing.
We discuss how to get on the same page with your partner if they don’t want to talk about finances. Where should you start if you feel like you are barely making it, living paycheck to paycheck, or credit card bill to credit card bill. How do we teach our kids about money and encourage them to make mistakes with small amounts as kids so they don’t make mistakes with large amounts as an adult? I know you will enjoy this conversation and will have a practical next step to get your finances back on the right track!
This week’s guest is Andy Hill, the award-winning family finance coach behind Marriage Kids and Money – a platform dedicated to helping young families build wealth and happiness.
Andy’s advice and personal finance experience have been featured in major media outlets like CNBC, Forbes, MarketWatch, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, and NBC News. With millions of podcast downloads and video views, Andy’s message of family financial empowerment has resonated with listeners, readers, and viewers across the world.
When he’s not “talking money”, Andy enjoys watching his kids play soccer, singing karaoke with his wife, and watching Marvel movies.
