Throughout this podcast, we have spent a lot of time helping men prepare for fatherhood. As a pediatrician who has coached hundreds of families in the early months of life. I have shared my field guide for how dads can prepare for and adjust to their role as dads to get immense joy and meaning from that role. But when you go through the process a second time (or a third or fourth), there is someone else who needs to be prepared: the soon-to-be big brother or sister!!
Your older kids are going to have a big transition when a new baby is added to the family. My wife and I have been going through this in the last few weeks with our two kids as we prepare for the arrival of baby number three.
This week on the podcast I am sharing the tips we used to prepare our kids to be a big brother and big sister so that they are excited to meet their new baby brother or sister. This is not an exact science, but knowing your child and using some of these techniques will help the transition go much smoother.
